Never was into boba, so literally the design of Sunright was what pulled me in. The 120% sweetness on their signature drink then helped me stay.
Sunright’s approach to a tea shoppe was ahead of the curve. Many tea shoppes were all about maximalism and producing a loud and bold logo. Which is fitting considering these tasty drinks bring that same intensity. However, Sunright instead utilized minimalistic and clean branding. The signature flower logo was in tune with the trend of circular logo, yet it also doubled as a simplified version of their lion mascot (you see the mane?). Their supporting asset was their floating clouds. These didn’t have the typically bouncy-ness of a cloud and instead opted for a gentle float with each indent. To add to this, each cloud was made apparent with the addition of another cloud in a different color. That use of negative space stood out to me as great intention to be modern and innovative.
This same sentiment extended to their physical locations. Bright yellows lined the walls, while white kept it true to the modern-esque look. The decor, having sharp cuts and birch wood, managed to blend right into the specific building it was at (ex: Little Tokyo location). Equipment and uniform also was on par with everything else. It is as cohesive as you can get, and I found that very satisfying.
I was able to figure out their in-house photo equipment setup, revive aspects that made Sunright’s identity, and helped in ideation.
